Hey Y'all!

Last few days at Virginia Tech
I'm Patrick or PTJ. I was born and raised in Summerville, South Carolina (30 minutes west of Charleston). There isn't anything better than being in Charleston. However, I am not a big fan of South Carolina...AT. ALL. I've been living in Virginia for the past five years, and more recently I finished my first year of grad school at Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES! I'm working on my Masters of Arts in Education in Educational, Leadership & Policy Studies (Higher Education). Pretty long name. Yup, moving on. I love VT and the people I have met there but I am excited for a break.

Richmond Half Marathon
I love running. This is not to say I am good at it, I just love it. I have made a mental pact with myself to run a 5k, 10k, Half & Full Marathon in 2012. So far I have completed my 5k at the 3.2 run for 32 on VT's campus commemorating the 32 Hokies lost on 4/16/2007. While three miles is typically a rudimentary run for me, this was the hardest. I have pulled energy from the spirit of Virginia Tech, that knowing 32 could not share in this run was difficult. I completed my 10k at the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC. While I have done this run for the last three years, no PB was accomplished. But I finished! I am currently looking for a Half Marathon. And I plan to run a full marathon with my sister in December on Kiawah Island in SC. Let us all be in constant prayer about that.

Excited to be in Charleston
My current journey has led me to an internship at Tulane University. I am excited because I have never been to New Orleans, and now I get to spend an entire summer there. I love music, food, and humidity. So New Orleans should be right up my alley.
So, I used my initials (PTJ) to name this blog: Pronation, Trepidation & Jambalaya. But it speaks to my love of running, my concern for the unknown, and my desire to fall in love with Cajun cuisine. This blog will chronicle all of these things! I hope you enjoy the experience.
